Hi! I’m Don and this is my cancer blog. I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (aka CLL) in September of 2011. Since then, we’ve done lots of bloodwork and a few bone marrow biopsies and CT scans in something known in clinical circles as “watch and worry”. We’ve steadily and patiently watched my white blood cell counts rise and my red blood cell & platelet counts fall. My lymph nodes have gotten pretty big and in general, I am fatigued and don’t feel really good most days.
Fast forward to August, 2013.
So, why call this thing Lymphocytic Ninja? My body is being taken over by stowaway rogue lymphocytes (B cells) that refuse to die on their own. This blog should watch them being taken out ninja style; they’ll never see their demise coming! I’m starting cancer treatment now and am going to attempt to journal the highs and lows moving forward. I’m putting this out there for anyone affected by this disease whether patient, friend or family. It probably won’t always be G rated content.
